1971	White House declares "War on Drugs"
1972	Drug Abuse Treatment Act passed with TASC model as a milestone component Heroin floods inner cities (1972-73)
1974	Illinois creates Dangerous Drugs Commission (DDC) to regulate treatment TASC planning and protocol development Many GIs bring drug problems home from Vietnam (1974-76)
1976	TASC, Inc. begins case management services in Cook County serving nonviolent drug offenders
1979	DDC contracts TASC to be sole provider of substance abuse assessments and treatment recommendations for Illinois courts in all jurisdictions Local planning establishes TASC Adult Justice Service statewide (1979-81)

1982	States enact mandatory minimum sentences for drug offenses
1983	HIV identified as cause of AIDS Illinois enacts "designated agent" statute to divert drug-involved offenders TASC named designated agent - core case management services become standard in criminal court system DUI services begin in several TASC offices around the state
1984	Courts overwhelmed with drug cases (1984-86) TASC begins case management services for drug-involved juvenile offenders TASC begins serving eligible probationers and parolees statewide
1986	TASC introduces HIV Brief Risk Intervention to all clients
1987	TASC administers ADAM research project in Chicago
1988	National welfare reform begins TASC begins public aid case management services

2000	TASC convenes a Practice Improvement Collaborative (PIC) of Illinois researchers and treatment providers
2001	TASC begins clinical re-entry management at female correctional facility TASC begins clinical re-entry management at Illinois Youth Centers TASC opens its 11th office at 63rd Street in Chicago, and expands its services to more IDOC venues around the state On its first attempt, TASC earns a three-year accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) A five-year grant from the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) helps launch TASC's Restoring Citizenship Project
2002	TASC is named the IDOC’s designated agent for assessment and case management services TASC coordinates criminal justice services for the National Treatment Plan TASC launches reentry program Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative (SVORI), later called Going Home
2003	TASC expands with a new office on Roosevelt Road in Chicago TASC’s work with the National Treatment Plan leads into involvement with Partners for Recovery IDOC contracts TASC to provide clinical case management for the Young Offender Reentry Project (YORP)
2004	TASC's innovative, therapeutic clinical case management begins at the Sheridan and Southwest Illinois (SWICC) Correctional Centers As a founding partner, TASC co-launches the Cook County Mental Health Court TASC expands case management services by partnering to begin the Illinois Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral and Treatment (SBIRT) program TASC receives another three-year CARF accreditation
2005	TASC greatly expands client recovery options through Access to Recovery (ATR) Gov. Rod Blagojevich signs legislation removing youth corrections from IDOC and creating the Department of Juvenile Justice
2006	TASC celebrates its 30th anniversary TASC provides additional services to women in the Decatur Correctional Center with Faith in Transitions Gov. Blagojevich proposes opening meth treatment units at Sheridan and SWICC
2007	The Center for Health and Justice at TASC releases No Entry Report Recovery Coach Program expands to Southern Illinois TASC receives third consecutive three-year CARF accreditation TASC and Community Support Advisory Councils (CSAC) partner to help former offenders TASC leads high school forums to prevent underage drinking
