Marcus King is a dedicated state government leader with a profound commitment to correctional outreach and community development. As the Senior Program Manager for Communications at the Center for Health & Justice, he expertly manages federal initiatives supporting reentry programs and enhancing community engagement across corrections and community-based entities. His role involves overseeing the development of communication strategies that broaden partnerships and secure essential funding for grantee programs. Previously, as the Director of Communication and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Housing Authority of Cook County, Marcus elevated public awareness of affordable housing initiatives, managed media relations, and effectively advocated for funding opportunities, showcasing his ability to connect with diverse stakeholders.
In addition to his extensive experience in legislative and media relations, which includes serving as a James H. Dunn Fellow in the Governor’s Office, Marcus also shares his expertise as a guest lecturer at Aurora University, engaging students on public policy and community outreach topics. His academic background enhances his ability to inspire the next generation of leaders. Demonstrating a strong community commitment, he also substitutes in elementary schools, fostering a love for learning among young students.
