TASC didn’t give up on me. - Tim
This video segment was produced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) for the August 2017 episode of SAMHSA's Road to Recovery series.
Community Reentry Programs
Most people leaving county jails and state prisons have a substance use disorder, mental health condition, or both.
After release from incarceration, what happens next? Finding a place to stay, getting a job in spite of multiple employment barriers, constantly being tempted to past drug use, learning new ways of living and relating to others… the roadblocks to successful reentry can be overwhelming.
TASC understands these challenges. That’s why we work with jails, prisons, service providers, community partners—and most importantly, our clients—to create pathways from incarceration to well-being in the community. Our care coordinators and case managers provide assessments and connections to substance use treatment, mental health services, housing support, emergency food and shelter, education, job training, state identification, primary healthcare, and transportation. Our goal is to help men and women rebuild their lives and reduce their likelihood of recidivism and reincarceration.
Working with individuals in prisons, we offer pre-release services to help people prepare for life on the outside. We also offer post-release services for men and women as they are released from incarceration. We strive for our clients to become full citizens and participants in their community—be that for the first time, or via the restoration of previously held citizenship.
